Why You Were Born to Battle and Built to Win
You were not born by accident. You were not saved for comfort. And you were not called to survive — you were created to conquer.
From the moment you took your first breath, a war had already begun. Not a war with flesh and blood, but a spiritual war — ancient, invisible, but deadly real. The kind of war that doesn’t wait for you to grow up before it throws punches. The kind that stalks families, hijacks identities, tempts with lies, and silences purpose. A war that has one goal: to keep you from becoming everything God intended.
But here’s the truth no one told you soon enough: You were created for conflict. That’s not a curse. That’s a calling.

CHAPTER ONE: BORN FOR BATTLE

You were not born into peace. You were born into a war zone.
From the moment you took your first breath, a conflict raged around you—not one of flesh and blood, but of powers, principalities, and spiritual dominions. The world you live in is not neutral territory. Every inch of ground you walk on is contested. Whether you realize it or not, you were created for conflict.

This truth may sound startling to young believers. You gave your life to Jesus, hoping for peace, freedom, and joy. And indeed, those things are promised to you. But they don’t come without a cost. The Christian walk is not a stroll through a garden—it’s a march through enemy territory. And if you don’t learn to engage, you’ll be overrun.

But here’s the good news: the God who saved you has equipped you, called you, and anointed you to win. He is not a passive deity sitting on a cloud. “The Lord is a man of war; the Lord is His name” (Exodus 15:3, KJV). He is a warrior. And when He created mankind in His image (Genesis 1:26), He stamped that same spiritual warrior identity into your soul. Deep within your DNA is the divine call to reign, to resist, and to reclaim.

This first page begins our journey into understanding what it means to be a spiritual soldier. Not merely in theory—but in gritty, practical reality. The Bible is not shy about battle language. The Apostle Paul urges Timothy to “endure hardship as a good soldier of Jesus Christ” (2 Timothy 2:3). He doesn't call him to play church, to ride the wave of convenience, or to hide behind shallow theology. He calls him to war.

But war, for the believer, is not carnal. Our enemies wear no uniforms. Our adversaries do not fire bullets. As Ephesians 6:12 declares, “For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world...” Our battle is in the spirit, but its effects touch every aspect of our lives, our relationships, our thoughts, our culture, even our churches.

You might ask, “Why does God allow this conflict?” That’s the wrong question. The real question is: Why did God create us for it? He could’ve made us in a time of stillness, placed us in a garden without a serpent, or shielded us from every storm. But He didn’t. He formed Adam from the dust of a planet that would become the battleground between light and darkness. From the beginning, man was made with dominion—authority not to hide, but to subdue, to guard, to govern.

When Satan entered the Garden, he didn’t just tempt Eve—he challenged God’s authority in man. That wasn’t just about fruit, it was about dominion. When Adam fell, he handed over authority, but God had a redemption plan already set. That plan was Jesus Christ, the ultimate warrior King who came to “destroy the works of the devil” (1 John 3:8).

Now, because of Jesus, we’re not just fighting for victory—we’re fighting from victory. That distinction matters. We’re not trying to win a battle that’s undecided. We’re enforcing a victory that was settled on the Cross and sealed by an empty tomb. Jesus triumphed over sin, death, and Satan. And He’s raised us with Him to reign.
But reigning doesn’t mean relaxing. It means occupying. It means pushing back the darkness in our homes, our hearts, and our
generation. This is not a battle we watch from the sidelines. It’s one we fight in full armor, every single day.

Let me speak to your heart: You may feel inadequate. You may feel too young, too new to the Faith, too messy or too broken. But warriors are not defined by how perfect they are—they're defined by their obedience, their fire, and their surrender to the Commander of Heaven’s armies. God is not looking for polished saints. He’s looking for willing soldiers.

When David stepped onto the battlefield in 1 Samuel 17, he wasn’t a trained fighter. He was a shepherd boy delivering lunch. But what he carried inside—faith, fire, and fearlessness—was more powerful than any sword. While seasoned soldiers cowered, David ran toward the roar. He refused to be passive in the face of defiance. That spirit is what the Church needs today. That’s the spirit rising in you.

You’re not here by accident. You were born in this generation because God ordained you to rise in this hour. The battles you face are not random. They are targeted. The enemy recognizes the threat you pose when you fully awaken to your calling.

Hear me clearly: You were created for conflict. But not the kind that drains you or destroys you. This conflict is the place of your purpose, the furnace of your faith, and the proving ground of your destiny. You were made to fight not just against something, but for something—for righteousness, for the lost, for your generation, for God’s Kingdom.

We live in a world of compromise, where truth is optional and conviction is offensive. But the Kingdom of God was never meant to blend in. It was meant to take over. And that doesn’t happen through silence or softness. It happens when believers embrace their divine DNA and rise as warriors.

So, how do you start? It begins with a mindset. A holy awareness that the Christian life is not about coasting—it's about contending. It’s about waking up daily and recognizing you are not on vacation, you are on assignment. Every prayer you pray, every temptation you resist, every soul you reach, every time you forgive, every time you declare the truth—you are swinging the sword.

And make no mistake: you are not fighting alone. Heaven backs you. The Holy Spirit empowers you. The Word arms you. Angels surround you. The blood of Jesus covers you. And your victory is secure.
But you must choose to fight.

This book will walk with you through the battlefield—from understanding your identity as a warrior, to recognizing your enemy’s schemes, to suiting up in spiritual armor, to pressing on through hardship. It’s not fluff. It’s real, raw, and Spirit-led. You will be challenged. You will be stretched. But you will come out stronger, sharper, and more surrendered.

So let the battle cry rise. Let the spiritual alarms sound. It’s time to wake up the sleeping saints and remind them: We were never meant to hide behind church walls. We are warriors, and the world needs to see what it looks like when a generation fully yields to the Warrior King.

The conflict is real. The cause is eternal. And your calling is now. Welcome to the front lines.

David Ravenhill - from the Foreward

This book was not written by some swivel-chair theologian in his penthouse apartment but by a true warrior of God, Troy Bohn, who for decades, along with his team, has “fought” the enemy in the streets and alleys of New Orleans.
Troy Bohn reminds me of a modern-day General Booth, who said, “Some want to live within the sound of church or chapel bell. I want to run a rescue shop within a yard of hell.”
This book was born from his years of experience rescuing men and women from the clutches of Satan and seeing them brought into the Kingdom of His beloved Son, the Lord Jesus Christ. Victories won and battles lost have all contributed to the wealth of spiritual wisdom and instruction you will find throughout this book.
I highly recommend it, not only to young believers but to old men like me whose adversary is still seeking ways by which to destroy us.
Read it on your knees, treasure it like gold, but most of all, crave to know the One who defeated the enemy 2,000 years ago and is now seated far above all principalities and powers. So be strong in the Lord and in the strength of His might and fight the good fight of faith!

What National Leaders are saying about "Created for Conflict"

“In “Created for Conflict” Pastor Troy Bohn gives a theological exploration of why we face conflict, spiritual, relational, and internal, and traces the roots of conflict back to God’s original design in creation.
The book builds a theological framework for understanding our purpose, and struggle in spiritual warfare through what Pastor Troy presents as God’s created order. Pastor Troy is uniquely qualified to speak about these issues through many years of ministry in
“dark” places, most notably places like Bourbon Street in New Orleans where he has led many outreaches.
I would wholeheartedly recommend this book for anyone wanting to further understand the spiritual battle we face in evangelizing the lost, and the victory that was won for us at Calvary.”

I have known Pastor Troy Bohn for over 25 years. There are many identifying words I think of when Pastor Troy is mentioned. Revivalist. Preacher. Teacher. Warrior. Faithful. Fierce. Ferocious. Uncompromising.

As I read Created For Conflict, I realize this is not just written chapters of theory and teaching but Created For Conflict is a powerful mission field manual for every believer, young and old, to grab ahold of and be launched from the Comfort Zone into the Battle Zone.
Pastor Troy Bohn has taken decades of spiritual conflict, waging war against spiritual darkness in these days, and turned them into a gift to the Body of Christ.
As a believer, you cannot immerse yourself in Created For Conflict without experiencing a Holy Ghost fire roaring inside you, deep in your spirit, that causes you to come to a place of surrender, to lay it all down, all of it, for Jesus Christ and the mission He has called you to.

"Created For Conflict is an urgent summons to abandon the shallow comforts of cultural Christianity and embrace the bold, transformative life of faith revealed in Scripture. With clarity and conviction, Pastor Troy challenges believers to pursue a kingdom-driven existence—one marked by purpose, passion, and the power of God to overcome adversity.
This book doesn’t merely inspire; it equips. Through practical guidance and spiritual insight, readers are prepared to navigate the trials of discipleship with courage and clarity.
Pastor Troy writes not from theory, but from the trenches—his life a living testimony to the truths he proclaims. For years, he has faithfully carried the banner: “Taking the GOOD NEWS into BAD PLACES for JESUS.” I’ve personally witnessed the fruit of his ministry— disciples ignited with the fire of the gospel and unwavering in their devotion to Christ and Him crucified (1 Cor. 2:2).
Whether you're a new believer seeking depth, a seasoned follower needing renewed strength, or a mentor guiding others in the faith, Created Conflict is a vital resource. It will stir your soul, sharpen your focus, and send you forth with renewed resolve."

Pastor Troy Bohn, a seasoned pastor and leader, can certainly speak to this topic. The principles and concepts presented in this book are not merely theoretical; they are actively practiced in his daily life and the lives of his ministry.
He exemplifies the life of a man on a mission by serving the Lord and engaging in spiritual battles to advance the Kingdom of God. Pastor Bohn has fought and continues to fight for his family, church, and community. This book will inspire you to participate in the battle victoriously won through Jesus Christ.

Administrative Bishop,  Louisiana - Church of God (Cleveland, TN)

"In this book, “Created For Conflict,” Pastor Troy Bohn has answered the question that we all must address as we engaged in our Christian journey. After we give our lives to Jesus Christ, Pastor Bohn shares Godly wisdom to the inevitable question: “Now What?”
You will find this book bringing insight and clarity regarding the ultimate battle every born-again believer faces in their Christian walk. This battle must be met with courage and resolve to march toward victory. The Word of God states in 2 Corinthians 2:11 that “we are not ignorant of the devil's devices.”
In this spiritual battle, we are confronted with demonic attacks of the enemy. Nevertheless, we are encouraged to charge forward, face the battles, and win the war.
Pastor Bohn illuminates the stark contrast of a church that is asleep on the battlefront, and those who are ready to take the battle to the enemy. You will find this book full of passion of a man who is living the mandate to encroach Satan's camp, and to rescue hurting people of every nation, color, and ethnic background that we may encounter in our daily lives.
If you have a passion for winning the lost and seeing the masses, come to Jesus Christ, then “Created For Conflict” is the book for you. Pastor Bohn has always been a man that hungered to win souls since the day we met in Bible College many years ago. His passion has not dwindled but has intensified to a greater level. I believe yours will also as you let this book speak to you.
